How KinFrac Works

KinFrac is the ultimate solution for variable pulse fracking. KinFrac generates a huge, repeatable kinetic energy pulse for maximum fracture development. Additionally, by incorporating CO2 gas into the fracking fluid, KinFrac converts an incompressible fluid column into a compressible fluid volume. The compressed CO2 gas within the fluid column captures the tremendous kinetic energy generated from the rapid deceleration of the fracking fluid which is used for more complete and complex fracture growth.

Production Cost Savings

KinFrac requires fewer surface pumps and less horse power, yet produces greater fracturing energy than conventional fracking techniques. Significantly less water is required in the KinFrac process, resulting in additional savings.

The Inventor

Edward O. Anders earned his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1950. With over 50 years of experience in the oil field, as well as the corporate world, and with numerous patents to his name, his first Kinetic Energy patent, 'Apparatus, Systems, and Methods for Fracturing a Geological Formation'  aka KinFrac, is the invention he considers to be the professional achievement of his lifetime. Subsequently  a second and third patent have issued and a forth and fifth are in progress adding to what Mr. Anders envisioned as an entire "Family of Kinetic Energy Patents". The final two patents should issue in 2021. To view the first three patents in the "family" please see section below.

Sadly, Mr. Anders passed away on December 15, 2018 at the age of 92. However, his legacy will live on as his work will continue through his family and professional associates as they pursue his dream of revolutionizing the oil industry. Through his methods, extracting shale oil will become more economical and environmentally friendly and will help the US to become more oil and gas independent which was Mr. Anders' lifelong goal.

New Opportunities for KinFrac

RE-FRACKING:

It’s 2023 and we have survived the shutdown of our nation and our oil industry due to unexpected and unprecedented circumstance.  Now the industry is between a rock and a hard place!  We need to sustain and increase production for the global energy demand which continues to climb, but we don’t have the drilling equipment (casing) and expertise to quickly ramp back up.

The industry operators are turning to a new avenue that does not require new drilling, but creates new production at high levels in already declined wells.  The initial frac has been successfully put away, the proppant is in place, now with KinFrac technology we can create new surface area and connect the porosity to increase productivity again, and at a fraction of conventional fracking costs!

ENHANCED GEOTHERMAL SYSTEMS:

Until recently, we had never considered that KinFrac could be applied to EGS but several have suggested that it could have a significant impact on solving some of the issues that face this burgeoning new form of renewable energy. KinFrac’s increased power will enable fracturing of granitic and metamorphic lithologies, accomplish greater fracture complexity, and is more economical and environmentally friendly since it will use less water and equipment at the surface.

We have witnessed a much greater enthusiasm from those we have approached about KinFrac in the geothermal industry, contrasted to the O&G industry. It appears that those in geothermal are much more open to innovative ideas. We look forward to learning more about this exciting new opportunity.
